Whitepaper: Aon: Prevention is Better Than Cure

With medical inflation rates running at nearly 8% per year, and 70% of all worldwide deaths now attributable to non-communicable diseases, AON has produced a whitepaper analysing what employers can do to improve the health of their employees early – with a view that prevention is arguably better than cure.

AON: Prevention is Better Than Cure 1

It finds prevention techniques can be applied whilst employees are still ‘thriving’, rather than waiting for costlier ill-health and sickness management techniques.

It suggests there is an increasing correlation between workers who are unhappy and disengaged with those who go on to develop health issues.

It finds:

  • Some 85% of adults worldwide claim to ‘hate’ their jobs
  • There are less strong generational differences in attitudes to total reward value than might be expected, with millennials also highly valuing life and disability insurance, as well as health and wellbeing benefits
  • More employers this year say they will be looking to focus on health education and prevention, making communication and engagement key
