Report: The 2019 IT Skills And Salary Report

Global Knowledge’s 2019 Skills and Salary Report reveals that on average, IT professionals will earn £4,000 more this year than last year, with premiums paid for cloud, cyber security, IT architecture, and project management skills.

However, it also reveals a mixed picture when it comes to certification, and the propensity for IT professionals to update their skills.

It reveals that while 85% of IT professionals do now hold at least one certification (half which half were earned in the last year alone), it also finds the UK has the highest percentage of IT professionals who do not have at least one certification (21% compared to global figure of 15%). 

It also finds:

  • Jobs in cloud computing command the highest salaries. They are 29% more than the global average. The next highest salaries are in IT architecture and design, programme management and cyber security
  • For Europe, Middle East and Africa, IT professionals in large organisations (5,000+ people) had a 23% salary boost over mid-sized companies
  • 38% of UK IT professionals pursuing certification are focusing on Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications compared to the global average of 23%
