Metlife’s report proposes practical solutions employers can implement to address the challenges of stress in the modern workplace and in doing so drive high performance and competitiveness in today’s economy.

Key findings

  • 84% of employers said there is no clarity on best practice to address mental health issues in the workplace.
  • There is a clear opportunity for employee benefits consultants in tandem with insurance providers to step up and help employers to support staff with poor mental health.
  • 32% of employers are offering specialist training or courses to help employees cope with work pressures, with 52% believing it should be introduced in their organisation.
  • The tools that employers believe will have the biggest impact on enhancing employee resilience are mental health awareness and training (79%), financial education programmes (71%) and flexible working (67%).
