Views are being sought by the government over plans to extend redundancy protection to pregnant women.

Under the current terms of the Maternity and Paternity Leave Regulations 1999, protection applies to the period of maternity leave only. The Taylor Review however recommended extending this to cover the period of pregnancy and a period after – an extension of six months.

The consultation seeks ideas about how this should best be implemented, including solutions for those who may take Shared Parental Leave or Adoption Leave.
